Frequently asked service questions
What to do if I've been in an accident?
How do I book my vehicle in?
Cannings, or your insurance company will inform you when your vehicle repair has been approved. Your vehicle can then be booked in for repairs.
Cannings will give you an estimate as to the length of time needed to complete the repairs and can answer any questions you may have as to the scope of the repairs authorised.
Please note that this is an estimated time frame. Due to the nature of motor body refinishing, it is not always possible to give exact delivery times and dates until the repairs are underway.
What do I need to complete my insurance claim?
1. A completed claim form with insurance details, particulars of all parties involved and description and location of accident.
2. A copy of your valid drivers’ license or the valid license of the insured driver.
3. The police case reference number.
4. Estimate of repairs (quotation) for the damage.

A tow operator has arrived. What should I do?
Contact your insurer or broker. They will advise you on how to proceed. Selecting a repairer of your choice and arranging for the tow operator to transport your vehicle directly to them or as soon as possible will help eliminate possible delays.
Collecting my car, and excess payments
Once the repairs have been carried out, you will be able to collect your vehicle. The repairer will be instructed to collect the excess amount on behalf of the insurance company. Excess payments (if applicable) are payable on collection of your vehicle. Remember to check with your insurance company or policy documentation as to what your excess amount is.
